This artwork has been realized for the Symposium organized in 1983 on Vassivière island. " The stone was selected in the quarry at Quenouille because of its peculiar position in the soil that would be the same horizontal position on it's final location. This stone table, crude and rectangular, was firs cut by hand, and displays a surface topography suggesting the island and the location of the spring. On the upper side of the stone are a series of sculpted lines, which are, in the Ogam celtic alphabet, spelling the word "spring". The alignment and the position of the stone are the same as those of the pool which is itself alike a lot of ancient laid down stones. The top of the stone is very smooth, polished in a way, and that is only possible by hand". (Gary C. Dwyer)
