Residency in art history
Call for application

For this 11th season of residencies, art historians are invited to apply for a residency by submitting a research project about the history of sculpture parks in Europe and the renewal of this model from the example of the Sculpture Wood on Vassivière Island.

Founded in 1983 and now composed of 60 open air works in the public sphere, the Sculpture Wood reflects today's principal trends, from permanent to temporary, from monumental to more discreet pieces, such as those of Gilles Clément, Yona Friedman, Andy Goldsworthy, Koo Jeong A, Victor Man, Olivier Mosset, Hans-Walter Müller, David Nash, Michaël Sailstorfer, Erik Samakh, Oscar Tuazon...

Today the Art Centre is developing a new project to expand itself out of the Island by commissioning works out of the lake’s shore. The institution is also engaged in a thinking process on the renewal of the sculpture park model, by linking its commissioning activity to rural contemporary issues, particularly through the residency programme.

Final application date : Sunday the 19th of March 2017 inclusive

The programme is made possible through the generous support of the Nouvelle Aquitaine Region and the Ministry of Culture and Communication - Nouvelle Aquitaine Region Cultural Affairs Office (DRAC); Institut Français
